(Three million 3H copies were sold in less than one year whereas Star Allies sold 2.5 million in over a year. And after the success of SOV, Fates, and Three Houses, Fire Emblem as a whole is on par with Kirby in terms of sales and popularity now.

Awakening was actually meant to be the last game in the series and if it didn't sell 250k copies, Nintendo was going to cancel it.Īwakening ended up selling 250k in its first week in Japan alone and totaled over a million worldwide. But yeah, the series has a lot of vitriol since it's the only Nintendo franchise to avoid being canceled/put on hold. Fri 23rd Apr actually hoping we get a remake/remaster of an older game since Three Houses is only two years old.Multiply that by however many Fire Emblem characters there are, and you can start to understand why a lack of contrast is partly to blame for why people might go out of their way to modify the game to reduce the series' presence. To illustrate the point, they could add Krunch from Diddy Kong Racing and have him use his racing car as his fighting gimmick, but as cool as that would be, he would still look like just another Donkey Kong series crocodile character next to King K. As unique as some Fire Emblem characters' play styles are, they are all vaguely anime-esque weapon-wielding characters with serious facial expressions and multi-colored hair from the same series (I say that as someone who wants to see Isaac from Golden Sun in Smash Bros at least he is from a different and under-utilized series).

The importance of visual contrast is a shallow but key component when it comes to the game's fighters. The same can't be said for the remaining Fire Emblem cast, who are essentially interchangeable regardless of how they play.

It's fair to say the majority of Smash Ultimate players have never played an F-Zero game, but Captain Falcon would be missed if he weren't included. Fri 23rd Apr I think the argument can be made for both Marth and Roy, as they have tenure.
